Graduation Photos – Photographer for Huntsville, Madison, Athens & Hazel Green Alabama – Rubottom

We tend to document moments that we don’t want to forget. As a photographer, I have often wondered,

What is it about a particular moment
that prompts us to pull our phone from our pocket
and snap the photo to memorialize that time?

Looking through my own phone, there are a lot of photos of items, or text…  Things I don’t want to forget, or need to reference later. Those photos don’t ever get a “heart” though. The photos that are special, the ones that make me smile, are the ones that I had a strong emotion at the time I took the shot. The photo then is a tangible reminder of how I felt in that moment, and as a result, gives me the gift of bringing that sweet memory back over and over again.

We also tend to use photography to document important time periods and achievements in our lives. Transition periods where we are stepping from one part of life in to the next. Engagements, marriages, pregnancy, newborns, birthdays, graduations and achievements are ones I get to participate in often.

Graduations are unique, but college graduations, even more so. They often bring about so many changes at once. Moving, saying goodbye, meeting new people, getting a job & different finances. For me, I experienced so many emotions, some of them simply sweet, but some more bitter sweet. I have so may memories that flood back when I look at the images from my college graduation, and it is a special kind of privilege to be invited to do that for others.

Spencer, with these images,
I hope you are able to remember this sweet time of transition whenever you see them,
but to also use them in reflection on how far you have come,
and let this accomplishment fuel you towards how much farther you can still go!

Congratulations on your graduation! UAH Class of 2022!!!
